On Running A Marathon
In March 2009, I decided I would run NYC Marathon in November.
By that time, I was used to run around 30k per week, and have never run more than 8/ 10 k all together, and never for more than an hour. A marathon, is 42.2k (26.2 Miles), and most people finish a marathon in 4 to 5 hours.
But I was determined. I was lucky I was part of a runners group, and had and experienced trainer who convinced me that, if I followed a training plan for around 6 to 7 months, I would be able to finish (and enjoy) the marathon.
The thing is that I trained and trained since the beginning of March. I followed the plan, I would say in 90% . And on November the 2nd, 2009, i finished my first Marathon in 4:40 hs.
What did I learn from this? I leaned a lesson forever. It is that, I can achieve any goal that depends on me. It is only a matter of priorities and dedication.
